Girl by Girl (Sonyeo x Sonyeo)

I wanted to start by greeting everybody a HAPPY new year! Great day isn't it?! Hope everyone is having a blast!

I want to write about this light-school-friendship theme film titled Girl by Girl. Sounds like a lesbian movie but don't be too judgmental, it isn't. Guess what I was searching on an early new year morning, HAHA.

The movie is about two opposite high school girls who fell for the same guy. A simple story that will put as back a decade ago when things that matter are only friends, guys and school. I guess most of us treasure that period of time where we start to learn both stupid and significant stuffs which help us become who we are today.

Enough of the cheesy lines, so the film features two common characters you see at school- the nerd and the  troublemaker The unforeseen friendship started when Se-ri the troublemaker got jealous with Yu-mi, the smart one, when she approached Ki-Chan, the guy they like, to give him a can of tea as a token of thanks for saving her from the rude girls at an internet cafe. After seeing Ki-Chan smiled over the can  of tea, Se-ri wanted to get rid of Yun-mi but there was a change of heart and instead she planned to change Yu-mi and turn her to a bad girl so Ki-Chan will be turned off.

I admire how the characters are played. Each of the characters are interesting and well played. Even the extras did a good job. I personally want to commend the girl who beat Yu-mi from being number one. Her laugh is crazy and I do think she is really crazy, HAHA.

It's a goody goody movie that will make  you think of high school and your youth. A nice movie to watch with your old high school friends.

Rurouni Kenshin in Flesh

I'm back! Hmmm..this is a good sign, I like it!

It's been awhile when this blog was last updated. That doesn't mean I stopped watching movies. What happened was the opposite btw. I watched a LOT of films and found myself lazy reviewing. Anyways, I've been reading a lot of blogs lately and I got inspiration out of nowhere. Let's get this started. I had a two day off. Weekend off baby. I love it. I choose not to go outside and do unnecessary spending. Instead, I had some movies running.

Rurouni Kenshin. It is the live adaptation of the anime series. To be honest I was excited to see the film 'cause I religiously followed the anime series courtesy of my brothers who do want to let me touch the remote.

Takeru Sato plays as Battousai aka Kenshin Himura. I'm not really 100% into him. I watched him played the role of a young butler before and I find him annoying. I guess  it's the role's fault. Anyways, I think the make-up team did a good job with his resemblance with Kenshin. Kaoru Kamiya was Emi Takei. She looks perfect for the role. She even got Kaoru's bangs.

What to say? In general, I give this film a 7/10. With all fairness, the fight scenes are detailed and most look believable. They did a good job with the sounds and all. However, my brother keeps on complaining how they lack with background music which should have made the scenes more dramatic. Must agree. One more thing, I don't know if it's just me distracted or I really didn't feel how the connection between Kaoru and Kenshin was established. Like the next thing I know, Kenshin was into Kaoru. I know it would happen eventually but I just missed how it happened. Nonetheless the film was entertaining. I believe I didn't waste my precious 2 hours by watching the film. My only hope was, they should have shown the lighter side of Kenshin. Also, I was looking for the elders and children living in the dojo. Anyways, I know this is not yet the end.

Poor Man, Rich Woman: First Impressions

I never thought that this drama will make me suffer from the agony of waiting..waiting for the next darn episode. Urgh. I knew I should have watched the drama after it was completed.

I was suppose to run "Big" instead of this, but for some reason I'm getting tired of waiting when will the big switch happen. I'm getting goosebumps with all the cheesy scenes and immature moments in there. I need a break.

So I took a shot on this new drama with only one episode aired.

Rich Man, Poor Woman. The title actually speaks for itself. The plot was pretty common but what made me love it are the characters. I never proclaimed myself as an official Oguri Shun fan before though I adore him on Hana Kimi and Gokusen. But I guess I'm gonna be one soon. So he plays the main male lead on this drama. He is describe as a wealthy, eccentric, charismatic, cool with a some sort of difficulty remembering names and faces thing illness. Anyways he is bachelor. He's a Mark Zuckerberg-like of character (which is so 2012-ish...nice). On one hand, this the first time I've seen the female lead in action, Ishihara Satomi. Although I don't know her well yet, I'm starting to like her cause she is so natural, beautiful and adorable. She plays as a smart, clumsy, low self esteem, rebellious as per mood newly graduate and an unfortunate job hunter from Tokyo University. She has a very interesting character, I'm excited to learn more about her.

The first episode kicks off and they had a very nice start. There are sayings that it was patterned from Kdramas, well I sense some Kdrama vibes but not totally. I love how things are mixed up and the flavor is just fine. First episode makes you crave for more. God! I can't wait!

So, excuse me, I got to rewatch the first episode cause I can't get enough of this Jdrama. tatah
