Code Blue Season 2: The end of the internship

[09/13/11 12:54 am] I’m literally watching the first episode of Code Blue Season 2 and I must say, they are making things more exciting and level up big time. The scene with the open cardiac massage while the kid was on the tub was sO rawr! I can’t describe it. Need sometime to breath and think.

code blue season 2

The medical suspense continues with Code Blue Season 2. It’s been over a year and 3 months since our four interns started their trainings as flight doctors. Two months more and they are going to graduate from the program. Now here’s the catch, who’s going to last and be the official flight doctors?

In this season they kept the original crew and characters except from Dr. Kuroda (but he’ll come back and will have some short appearance on few last episodes) who was replaced by  Dr. Tachibana. He is a former intern from Shohoku Medical Center and is the ex-husband of Dr. Mitsui. He was assigned by the Hospital Director to evaluate the interns’ performance to know who are qualified to flight doctors. In short, he’s the one to impress.

Like the first season, there was no establish love line though I really thought Gakki and Yamapi will make it after the drunk scene. Those doctors are terribly focus on their career. Well, at least the absence of complicated love affairs brought justice to the main theme of the drama which is lifesaving. This reminds me a little of Dream High.

I think this season is better than the last one. Aside from tackling serious medical conditions, they also reached most of the sensitive ethical issues that involves in the field. Not to mention, digging deeper on every doctors’ personal lives.

I think there were no episode in this season that stopped me from shedding my precious tears. Death and one person’s battle with it is a theme that makes one heart feel terribly sad. I can only hope that they won’t stop with season 2. Funny how I hurriedly Google Code Blue Season 3 as soon as I watched the last few seconds of the last episode of season 2. For some reason, I feel the high possibility of making a new season since all four doctors are still in Shohoku Hospital.

I can only hope for the best.

Koizora “Sky of Love” 2007

I watched this film because I miss Zenkai Girl. Boy, I miss some Pillbug and Evil woman chemistry.  My bad there isn’t Ryo and Gakki past movie (?). I wish they'll make one like Zenkai Girl the movie?! That’s just my suggestion. Too much for the wining—I ended up re-watching Koizora “Sky of Love” to see at least Gakky in action.

Koizora Sky of Love Poster
Koizon "Sky of Love" with Gakki and Haruma
The film is about 2 senior high students who went through a tragic fate of love. There is this girl named Mika- a pretty and timid girl and Hiro- a typical gangsta type boy in high school. It started when Mika (Gakky) lost her phone and Hiro (Haruma) found it. From  then on, Hiro  started calling Mika everyday during their summer vacation to know more of Mika.

When the school started they met up and Mika was disappointed to see a guy with bleach hair and piercing. Nonetheless, fate made them closer and apparently became lovers. Mika got pregnant but she lost it courtesy of Saki— Hiro’s ex. Despite the tragic incidence they made a promise that they’ll get to visit  their unborn kid every 24th of December.

Unfortunately, right after the incident Hiro turned cold and he dodges Mika’s phone calls. He broke up with her without giving a good explanation until they graduated from high school. Without knowing that Hiro is suffering from cancer, Mika tried hard to move on. I guess first love is really hard to forget so it took time before Mika started meeting other guys again.

Years had passed and the only thing that makes the ex-lovers connected was their unborn kid. Mika visited her baby and accidentally bump with Hiro’s friend. He was the one who disclosed Hiro’s condition to Mika. Mika went to the hospital just to find Hiro in a very debilitating condition. They both cried hard and confessed their feelings they had through the years.

They were only given short period to catch up since Hiro’s condition was at peak. In the end Hiro died of cancer and Mika was left with both painful and great memories with her loved one.

While he’s still alive, Hiro wished that he wants to be the sky when he dies. Mika tries to remember him that way, as the blue sky above always looking after her.

I cried my heart out when I watched this film the first time. It’s terribly sad when two lovers are separated by death. I mean you can’t do anything about it. Damn cancer for killing a lot of people.

PS. Isn’t he HOT?!

Code Blue: Must watch drama for new doctors and nurses

I still haven't practiced it well but I'm a nurse. Naturally, medical dramas are  magnets to me. I’ve been a fan of House M.D. for quite a long time until I got tired with all their dramas overpowering my real interest. Anyways, the moment I learned that Jdrama world has this awesome medical drama, I jumped in and see if it's true.

Code Blue, apparently the title speaks of itself. Emergencies, critical situations, and life saving tasks..hmm..I already got high expectation with this drama.

code blue poster

Code Blue is about the story of 4 medical interns who are aspiring to be flight doctors with the infamous Doctor Heli—an medical transporter that gets to the site of the incident fast. We have Aisawa—hard working, cold, and passionate intern who has this great desire to be ahead of others. Next is Shiraishi, play-safe gal, hesitates often and academically intelligent intern.  Then, Hiyama, bold and  a competitive intern. Finally, Fujikawa, considered to be the weakest when it comes to skill and knowledge but he seems to have a positive attitude. They are joined by highly efficient hospital seniors who guided them along the way. They Dr.Kuroda, a very strict and highly-skilled flight doctor; Dr. Mitsui, a supportive and approachable senior, Dr. Morimoto, he has the most humor and of course, the Director of at the Medical Center who acted like an advocate to the interns.

There were no obvious love lines in this drama but for some reason I feel that Aisawa has something for Shiraishi; and nurse Saejima has something for Aisawa and Fujikawa (?). Nonetheless, the absence of the love lines made the story focused with the medical situations and struggles of the interns more—which I think is sensible enough because this is primarily a medical drama.

For someone who wants to learn, I think this show is worth watching. The cases weren’t as mysterious as those with House M.D. but you can definitely learn valuable things especially about emergency care and management. So much for the embarrassment but this drama motivated me to read and learn again. From then, I was able to relate with what they are talking about. I wish I can get hold of the habit…forever.

I enjoyed the first season and I’m off to watch the second. I read good reviews about it and I’m excited to learn more. My only wish is that, they will make another season. I’m starting to feel down knowing that this would be the last time I’ll see those interns.

Girls Cross-Dress to Guys Drama Mania

I must admit, I’m a bit magnetize with girls cross-dress to guys drama genre. To mention some, once upon a time I was so in love with Coffee Prince, Queen Seon Duk, Sukyuwan Scandal, You’re Beautiful and Hana Kimi (original version). Not to mention my favorite Disney Princess is Mulan, lol— major revelation!
I guess I’m not alone since these dramas ended up becoming a major hit in their own respective period. There is something within the genre that attracts a lot of viewers, especially, girls I guess.

Anyone is free to oppose but I think the most exciting part with this kind of story is the pretension phase— where the girl is trying awfully hard to act as a guy so not to get caught. Then, as the story progresses, the closest guy will tend to fall for the girl-pretending-be-a-boy heroine and in the end, they will fall for each other. Then, there’s your happy ending. Quite simple plot, but the execution will basically make or break the whole story.

Speaking of sort-of-tomboyish type of drama, I’m watching a couple of them right now, namely, Ouran High School Host Club, Ikemen Desune, and My Binondo Girl.

ouran-high-school-host-club

First, Ouran High School Host Club was taken from the anime with the same title. I never got the chance to watch the anime version and I chose not to, cause it will just spoil my expectations like what happen to Nodame Cantabile 3 (which they compressed to a 2 hour movie ). To give you a brief overview, this story revolves within an elite school’s host club and a smart commoner, named Haruhi . One day, Haruhi, the heroine is looking for a place to study when she accidentally went inside the host club’s headquarter. On the way out, she knocked down an eight million worth of vase so she acquired an instant debt to the host club. Since she has no way to pay it in cash, she has to be a host instead. At first, no one noticed that she was a girl but it was earlier revealed. Episode by episode, every host is starting to show their interest towards Haruhi. I can’t blame them, cause she is really likable.

What I like about this drama? It’s Haruhi’s character. She is a calm non-exaggerated girl. I kind a like her flat affect personality. She’s mature compare to the other characters especially the handsome hosts.

ikemen desu ne poster

Next is Ikemen Desu ne. This is the Japanese version of the hit Korean Drama “You’re Beautiful”. Like the common stigma with remakes, this jdrama received a couple of hate and comparison from the earlier version. In the long run, I think most of the viewers are realizing the individuality of each dramas and some ate their nasty words.

The story is about a young sister wannabe who ended up being a member of the very popular iconic boy group Anjell as temporary replacement to her twin brother who happens to be recuperating from a surgery (woah that’s long). She pretended to be a guy but she was busted early by Ren, the lead male. Ren threatened her to expose the truth but she managed to make him understand her situation and so he gave her a chance.

This Japanese version made some additions to the original story, like the orphanage concert which is nice. Also, is it me or Mio looks like Park Shin Hye??? I think she is portraying the role quite well  and I like her male fashion sense.

my binondo girl poster

Last is My Binondo Girl. FYI: Binondo is also known as China Town in the Philippines. It started with Jade’s Filipina Mother and Chinese Father separated when Jade was young. Her mother decided to go back to the Philippines and lived with her grandmother. Years after, Chen Sy, Jade’s father went back to the Philippines from China to look for his son, Yuan—Jade’s younger brother. Chen Sy was not aware that Yuan died young and Jade’s mom didn’t care to inform him. And that’s where Jade got the idea to cross dress in order to  get close and be acknowledged by his father.

I was really happy that ABS-CBN is trying to take risk with the kind of drama they are making these days. I’m not a fan of Kim Chiu, in fact I underrated her because of her body stature. On one hand, like I said, I like this type of drama and so far the story is getting interesting. Not to mention, I anticipate the Kim Chui’s connection with Xian Lim and Mateo Gudecelli.

There you go, those are some of my addictions these days, plus Zenkai Girl. I was watching Protect the Boss but it seems like it’s overrated so I dropped it halfway.

Zenkai Girl 2011 (Full Throttle Girl)

 zenkai girl poster

I found this drama out of boredom at Dramacrazy.net. After getting hooked with Kdramas for quite a while, I decided to take a break and give Jdramas a chance to entertain me. As expected Jdramas have this unique flavor which I similarly get from mangas and anime— it isn’t hard to fall for it.

I have few Jdramas that I follow now (Ouran High School & Ikemen Desune) and I never followed so many dramas at the same time. The best one that I watch  now is of course the title of this post— Zenkai Girl.

Zenkai Girl is about this ambitious fresh graduate lawyer in search for her RIGHTFUL place in the corporate world. And when I say rightful place that means ON-TOP. She has this super high standards when it comes to her life partner and she is determined to work hard to achieve a big name and status not only in Japan but in the world  entirely.

Well, in her case, I must admit she has the right to ask that, considering that she is a very bright and talented lawyer. She was a pretty responsible kid or I must say INDEPENDENT back on her childhood days (and it will make you adore her). Also, this fictional character is the top graduate of her class. FYI a graduate from Tokyo University, only. She has her ways in doing things, and even if she doesn’t know how to do it, it isn’t an excuse not to get it done. Can I say she’s perfect???

No, she isn’t perfect, cause she is pretty much naive when it comes to love and kids (and cooking..and fashion). She might be your ideal office worker but outside that, think twice, nah..thrice. Just as expected from an academic person, she based everything from logic and scientific explanations. So when she was assigned as babysitter by her new big time corporate lawyer boss— as a stepping stone from being an official lawyer, she struggles.

zenkai girl

On her new career as Hinata’s babysitter, her boss’ 5-year old daughter, she met this kind and warm hearted SHD (stay home dad)—Sota. From Wakaba’s point of view, Sota is the opposite of everything she is wanting from a guy. He disgust her. She even mistakenly accused him of being a pervert. They are definitely opposite (?).

zenkai girl3

However, due to given circumstances, or should I say fate.  Our idealistic lawyer—Wakaba  and our easy going stay home dad—Sota are opt to see each other often and eventually, will get close.

zenkai girl kiss scene

From this time being, I already watched the 6th episode and I’m totally loving it!

This drama is wake up call for those ambitious and idealistic girl (ouch!) out there. Zenkai Girl will show you the other side of the world which haven’t considered.

My Amnesia Girl (2010)

my amnesia girl (2010)

Next stop, My Amnesia Girl (2010).  I was really planning to watch it on the big screen but I missed it.

Well, I got few good reasons why I really want to see it before anyone else: (1) Tony Gonzaga, I really admire this girl’s humor and natural charms; (2) John Loyd, honestly, I’m not really into his looks unlike everyone else but I really like his humor and attitude; (3) the story plot sounds interesting, although the movie title says it all.

Anyways, thank you Youtube (sorry no eng subs)for letting me watch this movie.

I knew it. The movie is overflowing with HUMOR and cuteness. I can’t help but smirk (cause I still can’t accept this happening) with all those cheesy pick up lines and all. I never expected such chemistry between the two but those awesome actors pulled it off with too much skinship!!!! rawr.

From 99% skinship and sweetness, it went down to 0 at the second half of the story when Irene pretended to have an amnesia to get back to Apollo for running away from their wedding. She was really rude but I feel sympathy for her.

Eventually, things got sweeter again when Irene fell for Apollo the second time around. God! who would have insisted such a sweet guy. All the antics and cheesy stuffs, grrr. How can there be only few guys who can do such corny but heartwarming stuffs. By the way, the two ended up with  a marriage proposal again.

Unfortunately, the conflict arose once more when the two struggle to tell the truth about their own lies. Finally, when the moment has come, Apollo had received the biggest blow. He didn’t expect such revelation from Irene (that she just made the amnesia thing). Apparently, the two had overcome their troubles but they didn’t know that biggest challenge with their relationship is yet to come.

That’s why people!!! please calm down when you feel extreme excitement especially when on the road or else you’ll blow out the whole thing. Apollo met a car accident after he had reconciled with Irene via phone call. He might have been oh sO excited that he forgotten he’s on the wheels. Good thing the writers didn’t kill him. Aside from minor cuts and wounds, he just lost his MEMORY. Oh no.

I swear I hate my brother for telling me in advance that twist. I wasn’t to able to enjoy the amnesia moment or I guess it wasn’t presented well enough(?). So, to make the things short, I’ll just pull out what Apollo’s father said to Irene:

Amnesia only takes the memory of the head not the heart

Finally, Apollo asked Irene, “Do you believe with love at first sight?”. Know we know that Apollo has this spark for Irene. Even though we didn’t see them got married we know that they will get there soon provided that they still feel the same way minus all Apollo’s memory.

The film ended with a scene overflowing with cheesy pick up lines that will make you subconsciously smile; and too much skinship that will can make go rawr because of jealousy.

Final verdict: 8.5/10

I ♥ Hello Ghost

I watched it last night, bet my eyes were still swollen like cherry tomatoes. Wonder why? Try watching it, alone or with your whole family. Cha Tae Yang

Cha Tae-Hyun, you bastard! you made my eyes incredibly swollen till morning, good thing I had no appointments outside or else anyone who sees me will assume that I got ditched by my imaginary boyfriend. Nah..just kidding, I love Cha Tae Hyun, he never fails to make me laugh and cry even at the middle of the night. I watched Hello Ghost until 3 in the morning yesterday and even though my internet connection gets my blood pressure high, I remained patient. Perhaps I have this high hopes that at the end of the story, the film will please me like always.

The story focused with a young orphaned bachelor  who is suffering of extreme depression. To end up his misery, he opted for suicidal means like over dosing himself with drugs and jumping off the river. Fortunately, he fails every time. However, his near to death experiences opened his third eye so he was able to see dead people. Unfortunately, he was stalked by four ghost which for them to get lost, Sang-Man (Cha Tae-Hyun )has to fulfill their unfinished businesses by letting the ghost use his body. Even though Sang-Man feels that the mission is too bothersome, he seems to feel hHello_Ghostappy about it ‘cause he’s been alone for quite a while.

I haven’t watched such a satisfying movie for a while. Since I have read about Hello Ghost on Dramabeans with Cha Tae Hyun as the lead role, I long anticipated for it. After Speedy Scandal, Sassy Girl, My Girl and I, I’ve been a solid fan of this not-so-handsome-but-hilarious-actor (that’s my first impression of him).

Although, I really enjoyed the movie I already felt some clues on how the story will end given that Sang-man grew up in an orphanage. Though in the end, I still ended up crying like a mad lady. The film really went straight from the heart (I guess to my heart) that’s why it made a really big impact on me. I hate how family centered genre weakens me every time.

Just a trivia, Hello Ghost is so awesome that it was noticed by an American Film director and it is a work in the process. How cool is that?

100 Days To Heaven

While I’m writing this post, I’m actually watching this awesome Philippine TV series titled “100 Days to Heaven”. I wish I can make episode recaps but too bad I wasn’t able to watch it from the start and poor internet connection kills me every time I try watching it.

I’m really proud that ABS-CBN finally made an awesome TV show like this cause somewhere somehow I’ve lost my appetite to watch Filipino primetime programs long ago. I don’t even remember the last Filipino program I’ve watched! Therefore, when this interesting drama came up, I felt the excitement again every time the clock strikes quarter to eight.

100 Days To Heaven is a story of a  successful yet arrogant businesswoman who met a sudden death. In order to save herself from the being thrown in hell, she must comeback to life as a small girl and look for the people she have sinned to fix the damage she has done in their lives (without her knowing).

100 days to heaven

It might be too early to say but I’m really astound with how the characters indulge themselves with their roles. Most especially the kid who plays the small Ana Manalastas- Xyrile Manabat. I’m not a Kapamilya fan nor Kapuso and Kapatid so, I wasn’t able to watch Xyrile with her previous shows but with her portrayal of this role, I can tell that I’m one of her huge list of fans already.

Honestly, when I saw the trailer on TV I was watching 49 Days at that time. So I assumed that 100 days is another copy cat Korean drama. Now, I must admit I was wrong because this awesome drama was way ahead 49 Days. There were lots of lessons in these tv series. Well, in fact every episode offers good values and lessons. It is simply perfect for the whole family.

Hotaru Madness

I found this Japanese drama after I got tired watching Korean dramas non-stop. Not that I swear I’m not gonna watch another Korean drama again but I think I just need variety. Thus, good thing I did because I discover this entertaining Japanese drama entitled Hotaru no Hikari. So, let me play with the words as I describe the three main leads and my thoughts about them and their personalities.

Hotaru Amemiya at Home
Innocent, cute, adorable, pure and efficient office woman that’s how I see Amemiya Hotaru— the heroine in this quirky Japanese drama played by a very talented actress Ayase Haruka. Amemiya was described as a “himono-ona” which imply to a woman who do good at work but prefers to laze around at home after office hours instead of looking for love. She fell in love with Teshima, her officemate from London. But she struggles to show her true feelings to Teshima because she is ashamed to show her real normal self at home aggravated by her long vacation from having intimate relationships. Good thing she was cheered and counseled by Seiichi Takano who happens to be her boss and accidental housemate. So, she ends up confessing with Teshima after being trap in the conference room a couple of times and experienced the joy of falling in and out of love all over again.

Hotaru Amemiya at Office
I really felt bad for what happen to Amemiya in the story. I can definitely feel her pain. Her love for Teshima was real and pure too bad she wasn’t able to get through the awkwardness and her insecurities. I wish she was able to show her real side without being afraid of rejection. Yes, she did tell Teshima some of her weird habits but it wasn’t enough to make the relationship work. For me, a more mature man suits her best, though I really shipped for Hotaru-Teshima love affair.

Seiichi Takano aka Boucho
Straight forward, sensitive, supportive with high-level of maturity, these describe the main male lead in the story, Seichi Takano aka “Bochou/Manager”. His wife left him for another man so he suddenly had an urge to go back in his parents’ house and self introspect. He was extremely surprised to find out that someone is squatting in the house who happens to be Amemiya—one of his subordinate at the design team. They had a very interesting relationship not seeing each other as man or woman but just boss and subordinate. They had an honest and frank relationship which became the center of jealousy of Teshima.

I admire the maturity of the male lead (bochou), probably brought by age, experience and his current situation that he didn’t overtly compete with Teshima even though he knows deep inside that he has already something for Amemiya. I adore how he supported Amemiya all through out to win Teshima. In this drama, I really didn’t feel that he was suited as a lover but just as a BIG brother, teacher, matchmaker and counselor. But I still like the confession in the end; maybe I was not just expecting too much because I’m fully satisfied with their chemistry from the start.

Immature with trust issues but when he expresses his affection to his girl, I suddenly feel gigglish like a teenager— Makoto Teshima. He is a returning employee from London and he was infatuated by Hotaru— assuming that she was a mature woman. Their love story started when he kissed Amemiya while she was sleeping in the chair which Teshima designed. From then on, his heart was captured by Hotaru although his feeling didn’t grow into a full bloom unconditional love.

Makoto Teshima
My bias mind tells me not to write about him because I hate how he gave up his love for Amemiya when I already fell in love with both of them (sigh). INSECURITY, I think this maybe the main reason why he ended up empty handed. He always points out how comfortable Hotaru with the manager when all Amemiya thinks of is him. In fairness to Amemiys she really did love Teshima, although she wasn’t able to get to the level of comfort similar with her relationship with the manager. But to think of it, it took time before Hotaru and the Manager got along. I wish Teshima is mature enough to know the “takes time” thing. Anyways, I believe Teshima was a fan of the overly used quote, “When you love someone, set them FREE” but his act for me only shows his insecurity towards Hotaru’s relationship with the Manager. Yet, I’ll still give him credit for the move because it isn’t easy to let go of someone you really love (?).

Conclusion

I enjoyed this Japanese drama a lot. The story is simple and light but it entertains you so much. It is something that will make you smile unconsciously and even laugh hilariously. I’ll give this Japanese drama 9.8/10

Monday 13 June 2011

It has started

Finally, I started to make things happen.

I've always thought I should have a blog or something where I can share my thought over a film, drama, tv program or any videos that  I watched. I often remind myself that "well done is better than well said" (on my part well thought off cause I don't usually mention  my plans) but I always fail with the "done" part. But anyways, I'm done with the long thinking and I official wrote something (well at least my first note) on this blog.

I don't expect that someone will read this crappy blog but expect that I'll try my best to share something of worth.

(I'm actually watching Hotaru no Hikari right now, so would you please excuse me. It would be one of the topic of my post in the near future.)
